This is from 2005 when we took a cruise around Hawaii. It was an incredible trip and such beauty everywhere we looked. I would love to be back there right now.
I like silence it is an okay thing. When you are with friends or family someone does not always have to be talking. Being able to just be is a really nice thing.
So this weeks events has brought up a memory that was half my life ago. When I was in the 8th grade for New Years Eve I went to Knott's with my Mom, Vivian Carpenter and Carmen Ottero. I know that Viv's birthday is that day so I am sure that had something to do with us going there. Also just to have something fun during Christmas Break. I know that we went on the Extreme Scream sort of ride and Vivian didn't want to go on it but did. I also know that at some point I had a photo of all of us going on the log water ride it was a key chain and I have no idea what happened to it. This week I went back to Knotts with my graduating 8th graders. There are so many different rides than the last time I was there. I had a good time looking around and riding the coasters. It would have been a bit more fun if I had a few friends to go with but I had my ipod and hung out with some of my kids every now and then.
The two on the right are from when I was in H.S. These are TK's parents Barbara and Keith. They have been stationed in Japan for the last few years but are now back home in the US and just a hop, skip and a jump from being in Colorado. The upper right photo TK took when she was in Japan a few months ago. The bottom right photo are two people who I know can't wait for the 'rents to get home. There are a lot of memories wrapped up in these photos. But I just want to say WELCOME BACK you two!
I do not know how to do a cartwheel. I know this may be shocking information for many of you. But it is true, I never learned how. And now I am scared I may breaksomething if I try.
The end of school and beginning of summer vacation meant a weekly visit to the beach when I was in H.S. Every Wednesday we would load up in a bus or cars and head out to La Jolla Shores. The youth group would set up camp on the grassy side of the boardwalk. There would be bbqing, cards, lounging around, swimming and surfing. Always a great time. I am sure many of you out there know a lot of friendly faces in the photo above. Good times, great memories.
I miss school. It has been almost 2 years since I was last a student in a classroom and I miss it. I never liked school growing up. There was always some reason or another that school sucked. But I miss it now and I want to go back nothing very strenious but maybe a math class, photography class, or even a psychology one. I must sound like I am off my rocker to some of you, maybe I am.
So my High and Low this week have to do with my friend Charlie. It was so fantastic to see her when she came to town last Saturday and we were able to hang out, go to Magic Mountain and have dinner together the next night. However she was only here for 2 days and then left again. She is now in Georgia for a week and then will be off to Iraq as an independent contractor for the U.S. She will be gone for a whole long year. I wish her well and I am excited that she has a computer and a webcam to be using.
